VICTIM OF A MARAUDING MIDNIGHT MUNCHER

The pineapple was just about ready to be picked . It was yellow , had slipped over on the side , but  was still hard, so it was decided to cover it up with a plastic colander  for a day or  two. Sitting on top of  the  pineapple , the  colander  looked like a ventilated  German  winklepicker  helmet .That night , before going to bed , as usual , the backyard was checked  for wildlife, especially wretched  feral cats . A grey wallaby was seen hop away, one of our resident  Curlews   ran  into the darkness.

Up  early, there was a Curlew waiting at the  backdoor  to be fed.  On throwing  cut up tucker to the  bird , this  blogger  glanced  at the  pineapple patch . Donnen und blitzen ! Staring at me was a strange creature which looked as if  a refugee  from   Sesame Street central  casting . The winklepicker had been brushed  aside,  the   pineapple  well   and  truly  munched .
