Young and slim looking, a Coucal (above) suddenly appeared in the yard. Also known as a Swamp Pheasant , it is a shy and wary bird . After a short stay, it fluttered away and turned up at the residence of the Queen of the Jungle , no doubt receiving advice from street wise birds that she looks after many feathered friends. Indeed, that very morning there was a rumpus and an explosion of colour when about 20 thirsty Lorikeets descended upon a container of water on her veranda.
