Don't be surprised to hear that Australian free range peacocks will be star performers in the 2019 Royal Variety Performance in London . This is based on the fact that one of the fabulous birds was spotted watching the 2018 royal event on television at a Darwin residence Little Darwin had been kindly allowed to use during the festive season, once more encountering the entertaining feral peacocks which have been strolling about the Territory capital for years.
While we were watching the royal show , a noise was heard at the screen door , and there was a flash male peacock peering in , obviously interested in the quips about the Queen owning all the plain looking swans in the Old Dart.
A Darwin Beau Brummell type male peacock , above , showing off to Plain Jane hen. The view from the rear makes all those swans belonging to Lizzie Twostroke ,(QEll), bland by comparison.
The males appear to be petrol heads , attracted to cars , upon which they sit , stand. One car in particular , with a special number plate , RED HOT ,gets a lot of attention .
