Over more than half a century , a couple who have travelled far and wide have had many memorable dining experiences . In the case of the husband , a veteran reporter and author , he has attended special palace receptions and Australian state banquets. They have dined out in London, Japan, Bangkok , Bali .
It is now a weekly ritual for the wife to take coffee with a group of women who share common interests and swap yarns , secret women's business.
The couple recently had a cafe experience in North Queensland about which they will be able to dine out on for many a day .
Feeling a bit thirsty , they wheeled into a substantial cafe and ordered coffee.
Much to their surprise ,they were informed that "hot coffee " was off . Why ? Because of what distinctly sounded like " the barrister "- presumably not Rumpole of the Old Bailey - had gone home sick . Surely somebody else on staff knows how to heat up coffee ? No ... Iced coffee is available. No , thanks .
