The BBC's Antiques Roadshow attracts a vast number of fascinating items . Sometimes the valuation seems low . One such example was an album of photographs , above , showing Royal Air Force experiments with early parachute opening devices in 1919 , before the invention of ripcords, revealing the involvement of a daredevil woman .
In a test for a Guardian Angel Parachute , a man jumps ,above, from a balloon basket . Another photograph glimpsed on the television screen showed a person leaping off a bridge . In the following blurred photograph the caption said it was Miss Bogden , apparently upside down under the parachute , the AR expert saying she was in an "inverted" position.
The estimated value of the album was put at 600 pound , possibly more, which seemed very low. The fanciful Heath Robinson inspiration for parachutes is revealed below , from this blog's files .
