The Germanic Queen of the Jungle firmly believes Bush-stone Curlews should be elevated to the same highly respected position as the Aussie Blue Heeler dog , subject of a film and frequently mentioned on ABC Landline and in rural radio reports, after they saved her from a nasty encounter with a large snake .
Going out to hang a towel on the line about 9pm, Her Majesty was suddenly subjected to a cacophony of Curlews ,the birds rushing around a large carpet snake not far away. They danced about the snake , urging it to move on out of their territory . The action of the Curlews had prevented her from walking on the snake .
Close to two metres long , fat , the snake refused to budge . It was still there , curled up , two hours later, but had gone in the morning when she rose to perform her energetic calisthenics .The snake could have been attracted by the many young Lorikeets in the area .
