Veteran Shipping Reporter shocked by latest outrage on mysterious Magnetic Island mermaid.
Exclusive photograph taken by our waterfront roundsman of the latest remains of the fibreglass mermaid which originally appeared , without explanation , near the main entrance to Magnetic Island , and was subsequently mistreated , her head and arms pulled off over time .
In one monstrous act, her head was replaced with a carboard cut-out of the then Prime Minister, Scott Morrison .
The Shipping Reporter , while checking on the condition of Nelly's groyne on the island , has discovered that the poor mermaid's torso has been subjected to more terrible treatment , pulled apart . She is no longer connected to her tail, so she cannot be regarded as a young flapper .
