This usually rock solid blog is fearful that the very earth beneath its feet / foundations will soon move, a rare sensation in more ways than one . Why ? Because a demolition team of honking Black-necked Ibis has moved in on the block and with their long , probing beaks are ripping the place apart in the search for insects .
Sensing the blog's cluttered den is choc-a- block with tasty tucker , bookworms, one cheeky Ibis stood outside the rear entrance and honked, as if commanding , Open the door, Richard!
Not wanting to be devoured by the ravenous Ibis, the bird Bible , What Bird Is That , by Neville W. Cayley, stating that they "destroy" large numbers of " injurious insects", the Little Darwin staff locked themselves in and watched the relentless birds through the glass sliding door .
Every now and again the Ibis rushed over to the Curlew bath to clean their bills , then resumed the long dig to China . Our resident Curlews hissed at them .
The jack hammering drillers energetically poke their beaks into every nook and cranny , especially around gardens edged with chunks of granite. There must have been something tasty under one rock , because it was pushed out of place.

Brick pavers used as art deco borders have also been overturned , pushed out of place . Wallabies looking for roots are also helping the Ibis turn the place upside down .
