JAPANESE FLAG SURFACES

From the diverse files of Darwin  agronomist  Robert Wesley-Smith has  emerged  this  tattered  WWll  Japanese  flag  from  New  Guinea on which are  some Japanese names. His father had been in New Guinea  during the war  . The  flag  , found while sorting out a  carton of  miscellaneous items, had  been in Wesley-Smith's possession since about 1985. He  has  passed it to  Darwin's War  Museum  at East Point  where it is  being examined by a Japanese woman  ; the  museum   has  a   similar  flag  on  display .
