FABULOUS WARHOL PUZZLE CONTINUES

A television  episode  of  American Pickers  in which important  photographs of  Andy Warhol  were   unearthed  and  a Melbourne  book catalogue  offering  an unusual  Warhol connected  publication  have   revived  speculation  about  how  the  above 1978 Warhol   self  published  book  by Australian  sculptor  Geoff  Todd, limited to 30 copies,  was   found   at  a   Darwin  garage sale   some  months  ago  by  one  of  our  runners. Mona Lisa and Dick Tracy two of  the  illustrations .

The  speculation has become more like  nervous twitching  since  receiving a  photograph of  the jumbled  boxes of  books  in  which the Warhol  item  and  another Australian oddity , Koalas Bizarre, by  Peter  Schouten, a presentation copy  to  a person  addressed as  " a  Foul Bat ", were  plucked.

The books  seem to  mainly  relate  to  Australian art- an Australian sculptors volume  standing  out , artists William Dobell, Russell Drysdale  visible. It  increases  speculation  that  the books may  have  belonged to  Geoff  Todd  who once  had  a studio in Darwin and  Ararat ,Victoria.  If they were from the Todd  collection , this  old book fiend would  have bought  the  lot .

Douglas Stewart Fine Books , Melbourne, offered  the  1966  Fab issue  of the  Aspen magazine in a box  by Warhol and  David Dalton , dedicated to pop and  avant-garde art , underground music , for $1650. The cover illustration is  Fab  laundry detergent .
