Strongly worded notice on Magnetic Island says "cat haters" are trying to get the Townsville City Council to "eliminate cats " and urges action against ""these draconian ideas." It claims the move to ban cats is from a small group not representative of islanders . It goes on to say the TCC should itself become responsible , employ a compliance officer .
Years ago , a man was so concerned about cats on the island and their toll on wildlife that he shot them with a silencer fitted rifle. He drove about with what looked like a cat tail hanging out the boot.
