POLITICIAN IN MARATHON SWIM , GNOME SWEPT ASIDE , POPE IN DEEP WATER , BLOG MOULDY.

Throughout  the torrential rain on Magnetic Island , the plucky ALP Member for  Herbert  , Cathy O'Toole , was turned into a marathon  swimmer  . She is shown , still able to smile, reflected in the chest high  murky waters  swirling  past  a prime piece of  island real estate , believed  owned by the Kardashian  family. The photo  was  taken   from a  luxury Halvorsen  cruiser swept  north  from   Bobbin Head  , NSW . Cathy's  incredible performance  in  staying afloat is likely to be  described  as  equalling the  mighty effort  of  Aussie swimming champion   Dawn  Fraser in  souveniring   the  national  flag  at  the  Tokyo  Olympics .

Not  far   from courageous  Cathy ,  this  anaemic  gnome was  swept    off  his   feet  by  floodwater  while  his  mechanically  minded owner was  busy in the workshop  constructing   a  portable dyke  from   Queensland  Rail  parts  souvenired  from Cloncurry   to   throw up  around   a  line  of  gnomes   decorating  the  front  of  his  residence.

MUSICALE  PONTIFICIA

The  Pope kindly sent  condolences to the people  of  Townsville . Apparently he  did  not   bother  to   check up on  his  real estate  on Magnetic Island . An area   of land   at  Nelly Bay , left to the Catholic Church ,  often referred  to  as   the Pope's Land ,  was  once  suggested  as  an  ideal  spot for a retirement village .

However, after the biblical deluge , it now  has a   strong  stream running through it  , more suitable  for  development as  an  imitation  Down Under   grand  canal  of  Venice. A resident  recorded  the  deafening sound of happy  frogs croaking  in the Pope's Land and  said it  reminded her of a  wet   Christmas on the island when hundreds of  tiny  golden  frogs  hopped into view .    Going  on  past records, the   Pontiff's waterway   will  continue  running  for  months .
