Within a matter of days , new buds unexpectedly started to form on Magnetic Island Rain Orchids and then burst into flower- an indication of another imminent deluge ?
Not so very long ago , there was a big flower display , followed by several days of good rain .
Cloud formations like the above have been noticed near the island and over Townsville .
Now part of the Northern Territory is flooding, the monsoon is active and Cyclone Judy hit Vanuatu , another cyclone in the area . Just back from New Zealand is an island resident with an eyewitness account of the severe flooding over there .
Meanwhile , some of the orchid flowers have fallen off and once more special banded flying insects like flies are congregating on the places where flowers were attached to the long stems .
