There seems to be no end to the mindless mistreatment of a Bush-stone Curlew painting in the Townsville CBD. This blog recently exclusively reported that the Royal Society for the Protection of Curlews is cranky with the city's authorities for allowing the painting to be knocked about and sport a large hole in its beak, outside a junk food store .
This resulted in a typical sensitive Townsville response: A sign with info about how to report damaged or faulty signals was placed over the Curlew's beak ; another went on the side . As our Shipping Reporter sailed by he uttered another salty oath and photographed the scene , the shake container placed there for the maltreated bird to suck on .
Hole in the beak for years .
