This story appeared in a satirical publication ,Troppo, published at the independent Darwin Star in l977, during the Silly Season . Inspiration for the unusual story was the fact that female members of the Star staff complained about frogs who resided under the toilet seat reaching up and tickling those sitting down, resulting in screaming and even limp falling while not under the influence of alcohol.
The AJA is the Australian Journalists' Association . One of the proprietors of the paper, Kerry Byrnes, said he was too busy dashing about collecting money to pay the staff and keep the place afloat to spend valuable time chasing and evicting frogs. Journalist Peter Blake , associated with Sydney's Kings Cross Whisper , the zany publication which rocked the nation and made a lot of money , did the layout for Troppo as well as writing several pieces. He also fielded as a bookie at the Fannie Bay races and later worked on the New York Post .
