RIB AND OTHER PARTS TICKLED IN DARWIN SLAPSTICK

This story appeared in a satirical publication ,Troppo, published at the independent Darwin Star in l977, during the Silly Season . Inspiration for the unusual story was the fact that female members of the Star staff complained about frogs who resided under the toilet seat reaching up and tickling those sitting down, resulting in screaming and even  limp falling while not under the  influence  of  alcohol.

The AJA is the Australian Journalists' Association . One of the  proprietors of the paper, Kerry Byrnes,  said he was   too busy  dashing  about   collecting    money    to   pay the staff  and keep the place afloat  to spend  valuable    time  chasing  and   evicting   frogs.  Journalist  Peter  Blake , associated  with  Sydney's  Kings Cross Whisper , the  zany publication which rocked the nation and made a lot of  money ,  did  the  layout   for Troppo as well  as  writing several  pieces.  He also fielded as a bookie at the Fannie Bay races and   later worked on  the  New  York  Post .
