NEVER ENDING PICNIC

When the passenger  ferries   running from   Townsville to  Magnetic Island  stopped using  the  above  Picnic Bay Jetty  authorities wanted to  remove the structure .  There  were  strong protests   and   the   jetty  remained , now  well  used  ,  ideal  for  photography , fishing ,  promenading , bird watching , making a splash . It comes in  handy as  a grandstand  for  people at the  recently introduced  small  copy    of  the  Darwin   Beercan    Regatta .
Camera    enthusiasts  from  near  and far   are   often seen   shooting  the jetty from  various  angles , cloud formations , swallows, seagulls ,  passing  vessels .
