UPDATE : A reader has provided additional and differing information about the Liberator prang... The bomber B-24J-170-CO Liberator number 44-40601 known as Burma of the 424th Bomb Squadron, 307th Bomb Group, 13th Air Force, overshot the runway at Connor Park Airfield, Rockhampton on 2 April 1945 and ended up in Lion Creek. Five crewmen were injured in the crash.
