In 1923 there were five Chinese newspapers in Australia . Four were produced in New South Wales - the Chinese Australian Herald ,Chinese Republic News ,Chinese World News and The Chinese Times; in Victoria , there was the Chinese Times .
All of the four Sydney published papers appear to have been weeklies ,all sold for fivepence a copy, annual subscription twenty shillings .
Established in 1922, the Chinese Times was published by the Chinese Masonic Society , K.M.T. Buildings , Ultimo Road, Haymarket . In the case of the Chinese World News , its pages set across seven columns,it was published by G.Low Long, 18 Mary's Street.. Publisher of the Saturday Chinese Australia Herald , was Sun Johnson , of Castlereagh Street . The Chinese Republic News was published by P. Lee, Campbell Street .
The Melbourne Chinese Times, which ran to eight pages, was published by Samuel L. Sue, 116 Lonsdale Street .
