Prominent Darwin archivist and historian Dr Mickey Dewar , 61 , died in Melbourne on April 23 from motor neuron disease. Her strong involvement with the Territory included teaching at Milingimbi in Arnhem Land. At the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory she was curator of history and in charge of heritage management at Fannie Bay Gaol and Lyons Cottage .
In 2011 she won the Northern Territory History Book Award with Darwin-No Place Like Home . A thesis she wrote was entitled In Search of the Never-Never : the Northern Territory Metaphor in Australian Writing . She was also a recipient of the Jessie Litchfield Award for Territory literature
