DIVINE INSPIRATION FOR LATEST GRIM MESSAGE ?

Versions of  The  Last   Supper  seen  during  a   sojourn  in   Italy  last  year   may  have  inspired  Darwin  artist, activist , poster  maker, Chips  Mackinolty’s  contribution , with  artist Therese Ritchie ,  in  a powerful   exhibition  highlighting   the  plight of   so many   Aboriginal people  with  kidney disease  on  dialysis   machines .  Called   Get Well Soon ! A Diagnosis ,  it shows  some prominent  Australian  Federal  politicians - PM Abbott , John Howard, Julie  Bishop, Joe Hockey ,Clive Palmer   and  Christopher Pyne  -  Andrew Bolt, Gina  Rhinehart , Cate Blanchett , Paul Kelly ,   Cardinal  George  Pell , the  NT Chief Minister, Adam Giles ,  hooked  up  to  dialysis   machines.  Chips  and  Therese   are  also depicted  as  patients.   The exhibition  is a call to action  for treating and  preventing the  disease, prevalent  in  remote  Indigenous   communities. Mackinolty has been involved  in  health  education  work , land rights , the arts in  Townsville and  the South Pacific . The National Gallery has bought a large number of  his  posters .
