Rotund Birdwing butterfly larvae after heartily munching away on a special vine . The colourful, fleshy tubercles protruding from its body warn predators that they are toxic . The following photo appears to show the caterpillar exuding a silken thread, as if about to become a chrysalis , another pupal stage, there are five , from which it will eventually emerge as a bright butterfly.
