A clear indication of developments taking place on Magnetic Island is the large sign pictured here at Picnic Bay . The sign is at the front of the arcade ,running between The Reef Bar Cafe , closed until March , and Mamma Roma , from which the battered remains of the Sunbird nest built on its sign while it was closed down , was sighted at the weekend .
The Picnic Bay Hotel changed hands on February 1 and we understand old photographs and other items of interest from there will be included in a special Picnic Bay exhibition which will be launched by the Magnetic Museum at Easter , which might just include a very old Kangaroo brand neck to knee, prickly heat- inducing , woollen bathing costume .
