Australian culture delivered a knockout act from down under in the shape of Adelaide amateur boxer Lindsay Fabre and his personal boxing kangaroo , Aussie. They performed on British and European vaudeville circuits in the l920s.
The above 1929 sepia German postcard , signed by Fabre , showing them hamming it up overseas , is in the latest list from Douglas Stewart Fine Books, Melbourne, for $100.
A 1927 South Australian newspaper write up said Aussie drank a gallon of milk a day, liked porridge foods, especially green cut barley .
