With much of the country experiencing chilly weather and conditions ideal for the opening of the ski season , Melbourne book dealer Douglas Stewart is currently offering the above 46pp souvenir highlighting snow clad Mount Kosciusko , NSW, with photographs that included dog sleds and artwork by Tasmanian born architect turned cartoonist and commercial artist Harry Weston, for $900 .
Percy Hunter , listed on the front page, played a large part in promoting snow sports and associated tourism . While employed as secretary to the first Federal Agent General in London , he made a trip to Switzerland ,leaned how to ski there , and realised Australia should develop its own snowfields to promote tourism .
Returning to NSW , he encouraged the building of a ski hotel at Kosciusko. A foundation member of the Kosciusko Alpine Club in 1909 , he was its president for several years. In addition, he edited the Australian Ski Year Book from its inception in 1928 to 1933.
