Early Queensland campaigns to attract settlers and tourists to the Sunshine State are revealed in Townsville's James Cook University special collections section of the Eddie Koiki Mabo Memorial Library
The above oddly titled pamphlet promoted Queensland almost like the Promised Land . The cover applied the hard sell of a modern day advertising campaign . It included a statement by Prime Minister Stanley Melbourne Bruce (1923-29) that Queensland was the state with more possibilities .
Another pamphlet was designed to attract overseas people, including those from the Mother Country , to the state .
