The unusual black faced Bush-stone Curlew spotted by the Queen of the Jungle on Magnetic Island is shown here for the first time standing at the back of a regular marked Curlew . When the Queen first informed Little Darwin of the sighting of the rare bird , we cheekily named it the Canadian Trudeau Curlew .
She subsequently photographed the Curlew for us and even produced another shot from her files of a completely black Curlew with a parent , above , taken on the island during the 2004/2005 breeding season . In the process of looking for the earlier photograph she displayed a collection of superb photographs covering North Queensland wildlife , from which this blog will run illustrated posts from time to time .
