The mutilated mystery mermaid at the entrance to Magnetic Island has been receiving regular visits from noisy Crows. Our Shipping Reporter , a rare old bird hisself, who keeps a close watch on the mermaid , took the above photo showing the birds near the grossly mistreated lady and her seeing -eye dog .
He wonders if the Crows are sizing her up as a nest site . According to What Bird Is That ,by Neville W. Cayley, Crows, also known as Ravens, like a large, open , rather deep nest , composed of sticks and twigs , lined with grass and wool . It is usually placed in the fork of a tall tree .
However, the large holes caused by her arms and head being ripped off by unknown boofheads might just make her interior a prime Crow real estate nest site , with magnificent views of the sea and distant ranges.
