As the two chicks had grown so much they had no trouble hopping over the Berlin Wall designed to keep them in the backyard , it was decided to dismantle the hurdle and stack it in the shed. Unfortunately, it was not demolished before I mowed the lawn and in the process reactivated the hernia yet again while lifting the mower over the wall. If not a rupture , something feels sore in that region and elsewhere. Oh what a (groan) feeling , Curlews. In the current warm weather nomadic Curlews in the district have taken a shine to the ceramic birdbath from which they drink and cool feet.
STOP PRESS: Surprisingly, two baby Curlews, below, were found when bringing in the Queen of the Jungle's wheelie bin. They were in the company of three adult birds, two of them their parents, the other a known Generation Y type from a previous clutch reluctant to leave its parents and go out into the world on his own .
