Here is a small sample of the critters that abound in close proximity to this blog which makes the place look like an extension of Taronga Zoo . The marauding cockatoos are still planning an attack on the netted mandarin tree . The swinging Curlew cooling off above is one of four which demand to be fed twice daily, tap at the door for attention, the water changed after the photo taken . Lizards are on the increase and underfoot . The house , like so many others in the district, is overrun by ants, some popping out of the computer , the cassette boxes .
A large cane toad was donged with a shovel during the night and a possum which noisely danced along the roof and ran into the mandarin tree was poked with a broom handle and took off at speed . Night time visits by wallabies have stopped for some unknown reason. Last night it was hard to hear television because a family of noisy Barking Owls , also known as Murder Birds , because they devour so many fledglings, including our beloved Curlews , moved into trees across the road . Butterflies are out in force and Sunbirds are active early in the morning .
