CYCLONES , PISS AND HOT AIR , DOG WHISTLING POLL

ScoMo's  why the bloody hell is he up here  tourist trundle   through  Strawberry Republic  /  Bananaland   to   end  in  Dengue  Fever   Debate ?
PM  expressing pain  during  pin the  tail  on the  donkey  and   musical  chairs  entertainment  in Canberra  Liberal    party  room .

No sooner   had North Queensland been  warned to prepare for the cyclone season , than  it was   announced   in  a  big spread in the  Murdoch Townsville Bulletin that  windy Paul Murray  of Sky  would be  holding  a show  in  Townsville   with   the   wordy , stick  to  the message ,  adman , Scott  Morrison .  From time to time , the Bulletin  runs  a syndicated  Murray column  on subjects which  seem to  have  little  relevance  locally .

Murray, who  likes to present himself as  a lover of  the outback and its  people, showed  footage of  himself  fumbling  about in a pup  tent at the Birdsville Races , travelling  with    Pauline Hanson's  party .  Sky,  like Channel 9,  give inordinate  coverage  to  rapidly  fading   Hanson . A  Current  Affair in particular  seems  intent  on   giving  Hanson  life  support in  its   promos , despite the  obvious   prognosis  for   One  Nation , its   turnover of motley members , the  arrival  of  a   bovver  boy  below .

In  the evening of the  first day that   Morrison set out on his four day safari  in his  multi coloured  pantechnicon  along the  Queensland coast , surprised  Townsville  residents  received  calls    for  a political poll conducted for   a  mob   identified  in a muffled voice  at  the very end  as  the " Group for the Common Good"  .  Strangely, it  asked questions related  to  your  voting  intentions  should  a  Queensland   state  election  be  held  tomorrow .  Eh ?  Such  an  event  is  a  long way  off .

Then  the  plot  thickened . Do you think  Premier   Annasticia  Palaszczuk is doing a  good   job  ;  would you  like to see Queensland Treasurer  Jackie  Trad  as  the premier; what  are your feelings about Greenies  influencing the government ; do you  think  Labor  should  work with  mining  companies to  advance mining  projects ( no specific mention of Adani )   ;  what is your  opinion of  Liberal National Party  leader  Deb Frecklington ;  would  you  vote  for   minor   named   parties?

It was undoubtedly linked to  ScoMo's  bumpy  ride  down  the  drack  LNP  line  and  the eventual  federal election ... an  indication  of  an  early  one  ?

On  day one , sprouting  assorted  slogans like  a  smiling,   wind up   adman handing out  free sample bags and  baseball  caps  for  a  new   whiter  than  white  product  in the  toothpaste or  nappy  wash   market , the  PM  visited a strawberry  patch.

Somehow, it seems  nobody asked   him  for comment   on  the  strawberry    contamination investigation , especially  the  suggestion, raised by the ABC a  week or so ago  , that  there could have a  been  a  mafia  link  in  the  sabotage .

However, ScoMo managed to attack (repeatedly)  the federal  Opposition  and the   Queensland  government , saying it  was  not doing its job  re  infrastructure  projects in the North  , which  seems  to  tie  in  nicely with the  line of questioning   in  the  telephone poll .

A  Townsville  area  woman  who received the  above  mentioned   telephone poll  told us  she  thought  the  person  asking the questions  was  the  giggling  host of Channel 7's  The Chase .   Surely not  ?    In   answering   the question about   her view of the  Liberal National Party   leader  Deb  Frecklington , the  politically  alert  woman   told  us she  thought she  was  as  negative as   Tony Abbott   had been when he was leader of the Opposition . Further  more , the Freckled  One  had  not minded   her   Deputy  Leader  ,  doom  and  gloom  Tim  Mander  ,  calling   Treasurer  Trad   Saddam    Hussein's  information   minister " Comical Ali . "

Re piss and  hot effluvium  : During  a Murray Show  panel  discussion ,  country bred  Peta  Credlin delivered  an  off  the shoulder  punch to the   breadbasket which  caused  motor mouth  Murray  to  be  temporarily  lost  for  words .

An  account  went   thus :.." Credlin’s abusiveness triggered an impromptu ad break when she swore at  her  fellow panellists. “Journos, journos, journos ... and a Labor outsider,” she said, referring to her colleagues. “Nobody is going to tell you in the Liberal Party what is really going on. They are more likely, the conservatives, to tell me. And I think you are  all  piss and  wind. .."

On a  previous , somewhat  disorganised   Murray Show in Townsville, he made the statement that the ALP Member for  Herbert  , the hard working behind the scenes  Cathy  O'Toole,  was not present because  his  apparent  pin up  girl, Pauline Hanson, was  there .  Not  so .  She was  actually in  Singapore exploring ways and means in which  Townsville   could   benefit  from  the  closer  relationship  between  the  two   cities  and came back with a swag  of useful information  about  jobs  and  investment  opportunities.
