Linked arm in arm , all employed in the millinery department of Rendell's Store in Auckland , they sport an array of hats, coats, handbags , gloves and fox furs in this circa early 1950s snap . From the left , they are : Marj Polworth , called Polly ; Vel Walsh , known as Wally ; Gwendaline Merfield , called Tot ; Gwen Stacey, who pre-war ran her own millinery shop , worked in the exclusive Betty Moura Bonnet Shop in Vulcan Lane , which included customers who were members of the Jewish community , later buyer for the George Court department store , Karangahape Road , Auckland .
A similar photograph of the group , stored away somewhere , was taken 30 years later and this blog hopes to be able to post it in the near future .
