Unfortunately not carrying a camera at the time, our Shipping Reporter says he spotted a large V-shaped flock of unidentified birds heading into clouds high over Townsville. They appeared to be in a classic migrating configuration and could have been overseas arrivals , possibly from Siberia.
By the time he had armed himself with a camera, the birds had vanished. Nevertheless, he went searching for them , in the chase shooting numerous cloud formations in which he thought they could be hiding , or from which they might emerge ..
Street lights produced some flapping red herrings which looked like birds from a distance .
