Caught on camera in the act of breaking into a locked birdcage on Magnetic Island was a Sulphur-crested Cockatoo , branded the Cheeky Cocky as a result . The empty , sturdy cage has an intricate locking device which requires lifting up and rotating a latch , then pulling open the door.
No trouble for a smart Aussie Cockatoo intent on busting in and getting at a closed container of birdseed inside .
Once entry was gained, the lid was roughly removed from the container and damaged , the contents scattered about during the messy festive season raid .
Some time ago an audacious Cocky forced open the upstairs flyscreen on a bedroom , got inside , admired itself in the mirror and pulled out the pyjamas of the lady of the house from under a pillow.
The lesson here is to lock up your nighties , chain your cages and screw down food containers because flocks of code- cracking Cockies are currently on the prowl near you .
