A bad smell in a Darwin CBD high rise building started nostrils twitching. An investigation resulted in the ghastly discovery of a variety of dismembered , decaying birds on parapets of the 20-storey building .
Parts of the bodies had fallen into a children's playground on the ground . Further torn apart birds were found in the nearby Chung Wah Society temple grounds, shown below . Body parts were also detected on top of outside apartment awnings.
It is believed an owl is responsible for the slaughter as no bird of prey has apparently been seen in daylight hours .
