The latest exciting find by the Darwin Detectorists keen to find a Top End treasure trove is a 1945 Australian penny , in a location they are keeping secret , hoping to find a valuable 1930 penny . Spending a penny has a colourful history in the Northern Territory , even used to promote the tourist trade.
It featured in the above circa l960s Murray Views postcard sent from Peg at Darwin's Parap Hotel , to Grandpa , possibly in Adelaide. She hoped he was not drinking too much , expected to see him at Xmas.
