It is said a fool is a man who has never tried an experiment in his life . In a bid to stop the resident Curlew family from lining up at the kitchen door and tapping on the glass and hissing , demanding to be fed long before the regular afternoon dinner gong , it was decided to place a blaring radio near the door in the hope that it would keep the birds away .
It was also thought that it would prevent the build up of guano that could rival the deposits of Nauru if not washed and shovelled away .
Foolish old blogger . The Curlews took no notice at all of Radio National , as shown above , and promptly began to walk into the kitchen when the door was opened . Our two chicks are now so big it is hard to tell them from their parents , the picket fence gate will be opened soon to let them go free . However, they are so hungry , annoying their parents by constantly demanding a snack , it is unlikely that they will want to leave because of our morning and afternoon catering service which has attracted Curlews from near and far , some more or less permanent boarders at the front of the house .
