Our eagle- eyed Shipping Reporter has discovered another sensational story involving the mysterious , mutilated , headless mermaid of Magnetic Island .
While her head and arms were torn off a long time ago , there now appears to be the head of Medusa , one of the three winged Gorgon sister monster figures from Greek mythology , carved on a rock nearby . Spooky.
Our waterfront roundsman says the face on the rock sure looks like Medusa , shown above, whose hair consisted of a mess of snakes and she could turn people into stone just by staring at them .
He went on to say the poor mistreated mermaid is showing increased signs of wear and tear on her fibreglass body and provided the top close up .
Some months ago , the outrageous treatment of the mermaid , which suddenly appeared at the entrance to the island without explanation , included the placement of a repulsive cut out face of Prime Minister Scott Morrison - he of many hats - to her neck . It disappeared quickly.
Lots of ambergris washed up on the island soon after and it was felt a passing Sperm Whale had eaten the ScoMo head and upchucked as a result .
