THE TANK MAN REMEMBERED

 The   brave man who  confronted  the  convoy of 17 tanks  at Tiananmen Square on June 5 , 1989  has  never  been  positively  identified . A Sunday Express   report  said he  was  Wang  Weilin , 19 , taken away  and charged with “ political hooliganism ”, later executed , according to  an American source .  Regarded as one of the great photos of the 20th century,  this shot  was taken  by  Jeff Widener  from the sixth floor of  the  Beijing  Hotel. In  the 25th  anniversary  crackdown  by  the  Communist   regime ,  Australian artist  Guo Jian  has  been  taken  into  custody along  with  academics , lawyers , journalists   and  others .    In  Hong  Kong , brave   Chinese  have   raised  the   massacre , said  to  number 3000 .
