Meanwhile, on Magnetic Island , where  beaches  have taken a battering  without the  mainland media noticing ,  the wild, wet  weather  caused  sick bags to be broken out on trips  as  ferries  ploughed into the waves   and  strong winds on trips from  the  mainland  , rocking and rolling , spray thrown  up  at  the bow and stern .

 Several streams are  running  on  the  island in out of the way places, this one  forming  a small  waterfall  off   the West  Point  road .
