An excerpt from the illustrated summary of a highly detailed address delivered by Adelaide lawyer, researcher and human rights advocate, Kellie Tranter , at the March 4 sitting of the Belmarsh Tribunal , sponsored by Declassified Australia , at Sydney University .
It was a cross party , non-partisan gathering of federal politicians , journalists, lawyers and writers which covered Assange , censorship and free speech .
Tranter said the significance of the Belmarsh Tribunal could not be greater, not only for Julian Assange and his family. A critical point had been reached in history for press freedom and for all human rights intertwined with it.
