SLAVES WANTED ON TROPICAL ISLAND

Apparently doctored  public   notice , above,   at  the  Nelly Bay shopping centre  , Magnetic Island,  again highlights the lamentable  mainland media   coverage  of    the  popular  tourist   attraction , described  as   Townsville's  jewel  in  the  crown .

There is an  interesting   news story  here . The word  is that  land   is going to  be  cleared  to  make way  for a  pop up  eatery at Nelly Bay   catering  for  backpackers.   A  power  pole  has  been  installed  .  It is just one of many  island   yarns  going  begging , one being the growing  Melbourne  connection  and influence  on  the  isle,  another  a new   high  tech  business set  up.

In  other  island  news  , not  picked up by the   sleepy mainland  scribes ,   there has been a build  up  of  weed on several  beaches  , causing nostrils to  twitch .  Weed  along  Nelly  Bay  beach , near the groyne, below..

Large clumps of  weed   visible, below,    in  Picnic Bay shallows   and much weed   piled  up   on  the  stinger  net .

Our Shipping Reporter  ,  the only one  north of Bondi ,  he's seemingly  everywhere- like Chicken Man - was  present  when  a  dramatic  rescue  took  place off  the   Picnic Bay Jetty.  It  involved the retrieval   of  a  hat   blown  from  the  head of  a  woman

The attention of  the above  passing outboard   was  made and   it   gave chase  after  the  hat ,  finally  plucking it  out  of  the   sea  with  a  boat hook    and   passing  it  up  to the   happy owner, who rejoiced   with   a  group   photo in  which  she   has  her  arm raised  in  jubilation .
