ALL YOU EVER WANTED TO KNOW ABOUT LONELY GRAVES

The latest newsletter of the  Genealogical Society of  the  Northern Territory contains  information  about  a great site dealing with  graves in  Western Australia  and  even  how to look after them .

Lonely Graves of Western Australia

The Western Australia Genealogical Society has a website “Lonely Graves of Western Australia”  http://lonelygraveswa.wags.org.au/

The recording of these graves was first commenced by Yvonne and Kevin Coate who have been actively pursuing lonely graves throughout Western Australia since the early 1980s  and have published  books on the subject: Lonely Graves of Western Australia and Burials at Sea, More Lonely Graves of Western Australia, and W.A. Locality Index, as well as numerous articles and items in various  journals and   newspapers.

One of the tabs -Resting Places -is split   up into  Church, Pioneer Cemeteries and Lonely Graves, Small Cemeteries, Station Cemeteries and Quarantine Cemeteries, and finally Homestead, Farm and Estate, Mine Sites and Unnamed Graves. These   categories are then broken down further  and there is  a section  on  how to look after  graves.
