MUSICAL SOLDIER CALLED FOR PEACE

After  experiencing  the  blood and guts  of  WWl while serving  in  the  Australian  Army  Medical Corps , Pivate Harold Daniel Abbott  was     medically  discharged   with   asthma  in  1917  at  Hobart,  and    wrote  and  published  the   following  song. 

The   following   sheet  music  might   be  another  version    of  the  original .

Abbott also   composed  and published  In Maoriland, My Own Land : The Great Soldier Song of Home, Perfect Peace Waltz , ‘Neath the Light of a Perfect Peace , and  For I Love But You.

He was actually born  at Launceston, Cornwall, in April l887, the oldest in a family  of  four  children . His mother died  October  5  1892  after the birth of  his youngest  brother , who  in  turn  died  13  days  later.

Emigrating to  Australia, Harold  worked as  a  motor driver  and  salesman. He enlisted  in  October  1914  with the  Australian Imperial Force  and  served  in  the   Australian  Army  Medical Corps  in the  2nd  Australian  General  Hospital . During   the  war  he  made  four  ship  embarkations.  

He married Florence Jane Denton in Victoria in 1923  and  died  in l957.
