The Albanese Government is to be commended for allowing the Nadesalingam refugee family to become permanent residents . Their cause was strongly supported on Magnetic Island .
The support included an Amnesty International exhibition in the Louver Gallery, with artwork that dramatically highlighted refugees ; it also raised the issue of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange .
The following photographs show a recent rally on the Picnic Bay jetty, Magnetic Island , where Julian once lived , which called on Prime Minister Albanese to ask US President Joe Biden to drop extradition proceedings and charges against Assange , bring him home to Australia . The rally, also in the cause of Press Freedom , seems not to have been covered by the mainland media .
Little Darwin recently ran a photo of Darwin activist Robert Wesley- Smith next to his car displaying a FREE JULIAN ASSANGE sticker . In Brisbane, a man spotted the same sticker on a car and thought it said FREE ITALIAN COFFEE !!! The message clearly needs to be decaffeinated and strongly served up across the nation, in the USA.
