After stumbling about his yard much of the night photographing the " Pink Moon" , cameraman Vallis is convinced there were two moons in the sky that evening as none of his many shots were of a lunar body of that colour .
Instead, they were either the usual dazzling white of a full Moon, periodically obscured by cloud , or a dull , mottled colour in enhanced close ups, which seemed to indicate signs of life , above , possibly bushfires on our nearest neighbour .
Vallis , we suspect, is really a bit Moon- mad, the above photo may actually be a selfie of him baying like a wolf at the sky. He is absolutely obsessive in his hunt for unusual Moon shots and has built up a large collection , including the following view over Cairns.
An early morning photo he took of the distorted Moon , below, clearly shows many of the craters on the outer edge and the Man in the Moon's navel .
